I love having spikes in lens visits, but it's sad when it happens because someone died. I have a couple of lenses about Shirley Temple, and last night she passed away, surrounded by loved ones at her home in California. If I hadn't seen the headline early this morning, I would have figured it out by the sudden interest in her life, based on lens traffic. I hope people found out what they wanted to know about her. I'm proud that I could contribute a little something to honor her memory.
Shirley Temple Black always has been one of my favorite famous people, a true lady, and I'll miss just knowing that she's still around. I'm happy for her family that she lived to be 85 (she would have been 86 in April) and I hope that her passing was easy.
In my book, Shirley Temple Black was an American hero. Rest in peace, Shirley.

Going on Six
In a couple of weeks I'll celebrate my sixth anniversary here on Squidoo. Every year I look back and say wow, what a difference a year makes!
I was just looking at one of my old lenses and noticed that it was linked to this post where I was excited about having made over $50 that month from Squidoo. Wow, what a difference five years make!
Back then I could only dream that a very part-time venture would become a very fun full-time way to earn a living.
Wow, can't wait 'til next year!

The Quick Brown Fox
Look at the picture I came across today. Isn't it great? It reminds me of ninth grade typing class, where I fell in love with typing. In fact, a few years ago I actually wrote a lens about the history of the typewriter that included a tribute to my typing teacher and a mug with "The quick brown fox" phrase on it.
Does this phrase bring back memories to you, too? How fast can you type it? Go ahead, give it a try!

Totally In Love With Autumn
Fall has always been my favorite season and this year, following a long, hot, dry summer, I've fallen absolutely in love with autumn.
Squidoo loves autumn, too, and is celebrating with a new lens theme. It probably goes without saying that I love it! I've switched over some of my seasonal lenses to the new theme and they look so clear and crisp and fresh, just like I feel this time of year. I'm feeling so inspired, in fact, that today I made a new lens for the theme (and, I confess, to satisfy a Squidoo quest while I was at it).
The Razorbacks lost today, the truck repair came to a screeching halt when the part didn't fit, the new part for the riding mower didn't arrive, in fact in many ways this has been a bust of a weekend . . . but I don't even care.
Did I mention that I'm in love with autumn? I hope you love your autumn, too.

People Are Kind
I deal with lots of people online on a daily basis, mostly "newbie" lensmasters on Squidoo.
Just wanted to say here, for the record if anyone's keeping track, that there are so many very, very kind people out there. I am touched daily by the appreciative emails that I receive and the lovely comments I get on my profile page.
It takes time to seek out that profile page then compose an email or type a comment. It's very, very humbling to be on the receiving end of such a generous gesture, usually multiple times a day.
I guess that's it, except just to say "thank you." You make my day.

Happy Squidiversary to Me!
Today is my five-year, one-day anniversary on Squidoo!
Can't believe I forgot about it yesterday, on the big day. Almost missed my new trophy, too. Love it!
Love you, Squidoo. Here's to many more years of squidded bliss.

Interview's Up!
Kimberly has been interviewing "successful Squids" on the SquidBlog for the last couple of weeks. My interview is up today! {blush}
I hope folks can take something productive away from it, something they can apply in their own Squid lives.
If you read it, I hope you'll leave a comment to let me know what you found that was helpful. Thanks!

Cancer Warrior and More
Pardon my being sidetracked lately, but a lot is going on in my personal life. I'll pick up here as my mind and body allow. Thanks to every single person who is supporting me in my new role as Cancer Warrior. I couldn't do it without you.
In the meantime, there's so much going on at Squidoo! I hope you've subscribed to the SquidBlog and Lens of the Day blog and are keeping up, especially, with Squidoo's Thanksgiving Cookoff for Charity. Great lenses are being created and lots of money is being donated to deserving charities. It's an exciting time of the year. Enjoy!
